Eastern Slovak Folk Music
The Folk ensemble of Stano Baláž was founded in 2008 with the ambition to actively support the current position of the regional and local folk music culture of Upper Šariš, Eastern Slovakia. The excellent technique and musicality of the members, many years of musical experience and deep theoretical knowledge enabled them to profile a band with a characteristic sound and original arrangements. Since 2012, the female trio “KRASOTKY” has been a stable part of concert performances.
The artistic achievement of the band in the field of interpretation of Šariš folk music has convinced critics and the public of their undeniable qualities and are currently one of the most sought-after ensembles in Eastern Slovakia.
The band has contributed to experimental world music albums, e.g. KARPATON (2013, 2015), as well as in the fusion of jazz with folklore on a joint album with AMC Trio, AD FONTES (2017), which brought the bands the prestigious ESPRIT 2017 award for the best album of the year.
Their current album JAK SE MACE? has spent its second consecutive month in the TOP 20 on the World Music Chart Europe.
