AMC Trio, a jazz group from Prešov, has been active on the Slovak scene for more than twenty years and now wants to surprise its fans with a joint project with Folk Band of Stano Baláž from Raslavice. The result? This joint project works perfectly, and their album won the award of the public for the best jazz CD of 2017 in the Esprit competition.

The trio of musicians from Prešov – pianist Peter Adamkovič, double-bassist Martin Marinčák and drummer Stanislav Cvanciger – gave their group not only its name but also a lot of musical ideas over twenty years of existence. The AMC Trio focuses exclusively on own music created by all its members. In its work, the group often goes beyond the usual jazz practices and mixes with the outside music sources (popular music, folklore). Great emphasis is placed on the melody of the compositions and distinctive motives. The trio is well known abroad as well, as it performed and recorded with renowned jazz musicians.

The AMC Trio recorded six studio albums in total. After the debut Thor_iza, they recorded the next two with Swedish jazz guitarist Ulf Wakenius (Soul Of The Mountain from 2008 and Waiting For A Wolf from 2011) and one with American trumpeter Randy Brecker (One Way Road To My Heart) – the album also won the Radio_Head Award for the best Slovak album of the year 2013 in the category jazz. In 2015 they released Very Keen Attack with
Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine. Their latest album Ad fontes, which they recorded with Folk Band of Stano Baláž, won the prize of the public for the best jazz CD of 2017 in the Esprit competition.

Folk Band of Stano Baláž celebrated ten years of existence on the Slovak folklore scene last year. During their career the band released three albums (debut V Raslavicoch bije banda from 2014, Ad fontes with AMC Trio from 2017 and …farbi ňešanujce from 2018). The group members also participated in the recording of two albums of their friends,
the band Karpaton and Michal Smetanka projects (Skadzi Stadzi, 2013 and Karpat Mater, 2015).
