DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan
INDIA - RAJASTHAN
15.8. 2024 (Thursday)
Hviezdoslavovo námestie, Bratislava
The performances of DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan are a colourful celebration of music and dance against the backdrop of the rich cultural tradition of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Musician Rahis Bharti, who founded the group, is a descendant of several generations of musicians who played for the Maharajas of Rajasthan. He himself plays traditional Indian tabla percussion, but is not afraid to incorporate elements from other musical cultures into his music. As well as musicians and dancers, the group also includes fakirs and acrobats – they, too, add to the sensory-packed and authentic experience that the group brings to audiences around the world. Mick Jagger, former French President François Holland, and Queen Elizabeth II have all clapped to the catchy beat of their drums.
